Chand is a boy of the new India, which came into being when that ancient land won its independence. He lives in the Punjab, only a few miles from the newly formed country of Pakistan. he feels a great pride in his new country and wants to see all it has to offer.

The author, Irene Mason Harper was a missionary to India for 29 years, and has written several books about the area.

The dust cover on this book is very worn with some tears, although it has done a wonderful job of protecting the book.

Ted and his twin brother, Harry, were traveling with their father, Mort Downs and their Mother along the Western trail to the promise land of "Oregon or Calforny" where crops will grow in abundance.

This book was part of a Public Library collection and has such markings on the inside. There are also some crayon marks on the inside, but they are small enough that they do not affect the esthetics of the book.
